Mussuranas Snake

This Mussuranas snake was turned into AWRE by a Teacher who told us it was found by a boy in his South LA backyard.  Initially identified as a "Ring Neck Snake" we weren't familiar with that species of snake but, after some diligent research, we discovered it was actually a Mussuranas snake.  A rear fanged venomous snake indigenous to South America.  How it ended up in a South LA backyard is probably a mystery that won't be solved but, we knew it wouldn't be safe to return it to the backyard it came from.  After a little research and many phone calls, the snake was relocated to the San Diego Zoo's reptile department.
