I'm Dave Thraen, Executive Director of
"All Wildlife Rescue and Education, Inc." (AWRE). We are a non-profit, 501 (c)
(3) organization dedicated to the retrieval, rescue, rehabilitation and release of all
species of injured wildlife. Hand in hand with this objective is our goal of community
education; to raise awareness of, and respect for, the wildlife in and around our
environment.
I'm writing to seek your help. AWRE desperately needs a net gun. So many times on a rescue
call (yes we do come capture injured wildlife when called) we find the animal in the early
stages of what is a terminal condition. If we can capture it, we can treat it and
hopefully release the animal back into the wild. Many times the animal is tangled in fish
line, netting, six pack holders etc..., and when we first arrive, is still healthy enough
to be unapproachable.
In these situations, we have to wait until the condition of the animal deteriorates enough
to allow us to safely capture it with our pole nets. This not only produces other medical
problems which lessen the animals chances of survival, but also poses a logistical problem
in tracking the animal or bird -- fox -- pelican etc.... while we wait for its condition
to weaken enough to allow us to safely approach it.
With a net gun, AWRE would be able to make the capture at the earliest stages of the
animals injury, thereby increasing its chances of returning to the wild. Unfortunately,
this piece of vital equipment is very expensive. This is where we greatly need your help.
The CODA net gun, net gun case, six extra nets total to $6,139.00. If you would like to
make a donation you can mail one to:
